As one might suspect, a list of the Congressional Club’s members reads like a “Who’s Who” of the 20th century, with names like Dwight Eisenhower, Warren G. Harding, George Bush, Bill Clinton, William Randolph Hearst, John D. Rockefeller and Charley Chaplin. Equally impressive are the course architects who shaped the Congressional’s reputation as a championship venue: Donald Ross, Robert Trent Jones, Tom Fazio and Rees Jones. But one quick glance at a Stonehouse image of this club is enough to remind us that it’s the golf, not the membership, that places the Congressional among the country’s top-rated courses, with several U.S. Opens, a PGA Championship, and a Senior Open included among its event credentials.
