County Louth

Some call it simply Balfry, some County Louth. But everyone who has ever played this links masterpiece calls it one of Ireland’s best courses. Established over a century ago, County Louth Golf Club underwent a complete transformation in 1938, authored by Tom Simpson, whose brilliant design was acknowledged in 2004 when the club was selected to host the Irish Open. Running over 7,000 yards in length, County Louth presents a medley of seaside dunes, hungry rough, undulating greens and feckless coastal winds sufficient to test the patience and skills of any golfer. No trickery here, however; the course has only 50 bunkers to defend her. At County Louth it’s nature, not man, that rules the game.
