Druid Glen

No seaside dunes, no oceanic winds, no wild Irish rough. Is this Ireland? Most certainly. It’s Druids Glen, just south of Dublin. Unlike the links layouts dotting the coast, this parkland track has earned the nickname “The Augusta of Ireland” for its colorful flora, manicured fairways and thick forests, formerly the home of the Druid culture of pre-Christian Ireland. As challenging as it is beautiful, Druids Glen drew acclaim when it opened in 1995, and was immediately selected to host the Irish Open from 1996 through 1999, drawing important players like Ernie Els, Sergio Garcia and Colin Montgomerie. Prized for its play as much as its scenery, it has quickly assumed a “must-play” role in the repertoire of Irish golf.
