Gleneagles PGA
This, the longest inland course in Scotland, is a Jack Nicklaus design, opened in 1993 to rival the other courses at the world-famous Gleneagles Resort: the King’s and the Queen’s. As a stadium course, the Centenary bears some characteristics common to other PGA venues, but Nicklaus was careful to play to Scotland’s scenic and historic sensibilities in laying out this acclaimed venue. Water, trees, and the moorland landscape impose themselves on players’ shot selection strategies, and multi-tiered greens force concentration away from visual distractions lest scorecard numbers soar. Challenging? Indeed… the Centenary was selected to host the Ryder Cup in 2014.
