National Golf Links

Located on Long Island, the National Golf Links of America holds the distinction of being the site of the inaugural Walker Cup Match, held in 1922. This links-style course was designed originally by Charles Blair MacDonald, who modeled many of its holes after famous holes on courses of the British Isles – Prestwick, North Berwick and the Old Course at St. Andrews, to name a few. Known for its exclusivity, the National is said to serve the best lunch in American golf, and with its famous windmill, punch bowl greens, and scenic views of Peconic Bay, it creates “a majestic monument,” in the words of writer Herbert Warren Wind.
