Royal St George's Golf Club

It was the late author Ian Fleming’s club, and even played a bit part in his legendary 1959 novel Goldfinger. As one of the Open Championship rotation courses St. George’s has hosted the British Open 13 times, seeing the Claret Jug raised by such notables as Greg Norman, Walter Hagen, Harry Varden, Sandy Lyle, and most recently, Ben Curtis. Despite its spongy turf, there’s nothing gentle about this duneland giant, which features the deepest bunker in championship golf on its fabled fourth hole. A private club, it is nonetheless graciously welcoming to visitors, and an absolute necessity in your Stonehouse British Open Collection.
