Skokie CC
Several permutations of this historic track have taken place since it opened as only the fifth golf club in Chicago in 1897. The first version was a nine-hole design authored by club member George Leslie; the second, an 18-hole layout, came from Tom Bendelow in 1904; Donald Ross was called in to help in 1915; and the late 30’s saw Thomas Langford and Theodore Moreau retained to expand the course on newly-acquired property. In 1999, architect Ron Prichard brought Ross specifications back into play, and today, though only six original Ross holes remain, most experts agree Skokie echoes the spirit of Ross… and Gene Sarazen… and Bobby Jones… and Walter Hagen…
