Spyglass Hill

“Treasure Island.” “Billy Bones.” “Long John Silver.” If you recognize these names from the works of Robert Louis Stevenson, you’re right. But they’re also names of holes at Spyglass Hills Golf Course. In fact, every one of the holes at Spyglass is named after a Stevenson character; legend has it that the author once roamed the vicinity in search of literary inspiration. One thing is certain: In designing Spyglass, Robert Trent Jones found all the ingredients for a world-class golf course. As an annual co-host for the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, Spyglass challenges players with a split-personality of terrain: five holes that run among oceanside dunes, and 13 holes cut through pine-covered hills. Aye matey, ‘tis enough to shiver anyone’s timbers.
