Hole Description
History and hospitality combine in the foothills of north Georgia to fashion one of the Southeast’s premiere getaways, and one of the country’s outstanding resort golf venues. “The General” course at Barnsley Gardens is a Jim Fazio design laid out on the historic antebellum estate of Godfrey Barnsley, whose landscaping was originally planned by renowned 19th century architect Andrew Jackson Downing. Fazio’s course design reflects Downing’s belief that man-made elements should “fit” into nature’s order, and since 1999 “the General’s” lush fairways and super fast greens have drawn players from around the world eager to experience the heritage, the scenic views and the challenge of this picturesque venue.
