Hole Description
Yet another Donald Ross design to grace the North Carolina landscape, Benvenue Country Club golf course opened in 1922 with sand greens. The club converted to bentgrass in 1946, but the greens retained their diminutive Ross sizing, requiring careful approaches and putting to score well. Though the outward nine holes are relatively open, the back nine boast more trees and yardage, so accuracy is at a premium here, no matter what club is in a player’s hand. And, of course, like all Donald Ross courses, getting to the green solves only half the problem. But the scenery? This Stonehouse panoramic image tells the whole story.
