Hole Description
This is a wonderful reproduction of a grand old club. As it happens, this print shows a mixture of both old and new.
The 403 yard 18th hole represents not so much what is old but rather what has been preserved. An original Donald Ross design that opened in 1897, Brae Burn is steeped in tradition. The features that have marked Ross courses are seen here: wonderfully contoured fairways, appropriate mounding that introduces yet more difficulty for the player, deep patience-testing bunkers and smallish greens that are difficult to recover to if approach shots are errant. It is hard to believe that this course was literally shaped by hand all those years ago.
Whats new is the renovation of the Clubhouse overlooking the closing hole. The restoration enhances the already well-established reputation of this renown facility. From the Clubhouse, members and guests can oversee how golfers fare on the difficult 18th.
