Hole Description
“If I could write a program for what I’d like to do as a course designer and a golf fanatic, this is it.” That’s how Tom Fazio describes his design at Caves Valley, which opened in 1991. Beginning that year, the club hosted its first Chesapeake Cup, and in ’95 took on the U.S. Mid-Amateur, followed by the 2002 Senior Open and the 2007 Palmer Cup. Periodic changes by Fazio have made the course easier to walk, but its beauty has never been in doubt; a significant portion of its acreage has been deeded to the Maryland Environmental Trust.
