Hole Description

A purist's delight. There is evidence golf was first played at Cruden Bay in 1791, but the course as it exists today is much younger; it's a design by Old Tom Morris first played in 1899. To be sure, golf at Cruden Bay harkens stories of golf as it was played over a century ago – an eccentric blend of long, scenic driving holes and short, testy charmers defended by well-placed fairway bunkers and perilously deep ones at greenside. To help keep up the pace of play, the ruins of the spooky 16th century Slains Castle, inspirational setting for Bram Stoker’s Dracula, overlooks the course.
