Hole Description
More than 250,000 fans descended upon the North Course when it hosted the twentieth U.S. Senior Open in 1999, and the beautiful parkland setting provided a perfect backdrop for Dave Eichelberger’s triumph against notables like Arnold Palmer, Chi Chi Rodriguez and Hale Irwin. First chartered in 1897, the Des Moines Country Club has endured a devastating clubhouse fire and bisection by an Interstate highway to become one of the Midwest’s preeminent, family-oriented clubs, enhanced by two Pete Dye-designed golf courses. The North course is the club’s flagship venue, playing at 7200 yards, graced by mature trees and immaculate, rolling fairways, captured here in panoramic format by photographer Patrick Drickey.
