Hole Description
Early 19th century buildings form the centerpiece of this Virginia club, a 6,833-yard, par-72 venue, built on property that holds a significant place in the history of the state. Site of important local events since colonial times, the location served as General Robert E. Lee’s last bivouac before his surrender at Appomattox, and was selected by a group of Richmond businessmen for development as a private golf club in the 1980’s. Designed by Raymond F. Loving, Jr., ASGCA, in association with J.K. Timmons, a successful civil engineer, the Foundry course overlooks Fine Creek from the surrounding hills, and offers a challenging yet enjoyable experience with an “old Virginia touch.”
