Hole Description

With a record 17 USGA championship tournaments under its belt, Merion Golf Club holds a special place in the annals of golf history: It was the site of Bobby Jones’s “Grand Slam” victory in the U.S. Amateur tournament in 1930, as well as Ben Hogan’s famous “comeback” in the 1950 U.S. Open. Despite severe pain from a near-fatal automobile accident, Hogan’s one-iron shot on the last hole forced the 18-hole playoff he needed to secure the win. Stonehouse panoramic images capture this famous landscape - including the Scottish-style bunkers, dubbed “the white faces of Merion” - making it easy to see why Jack Nicklaus said, “Acre for acre, it may be the best test of golf in the world.”
