Hole Description
When Oak Hill moved to its present location in 1924, the property was mostly barren farmland, depleted by years of crops and deforestation. Two years later a local physician, Dr. John R. Williams, decided to begin planting trees – over 75,000 of them – to complement the design of famed course architect Donald Ross. Nature worked its magic; the trees grew, a gracious, Tudor-style clubhouse was added, and the game of golf gained a venue worthy of three U.S. Opens, two PGA Championships, a Ryder Cup match, and a Senior PGA Championship. And a real test of skill: In the five stroke-play championships played at Oak Hill, only 10 players have finished under par.
