Hole Description
The challenge facing Pete Dye when he took the assignment to design Oak Tree was ominous but simple... "Make it the hardest golf course in the world." Dye certainly delivered on that objective. In 1988 when the course hosted the PGA Championship, Oak Tree had a rating of 76.9, making it the highest-rated course in the nation. After additional renovations by Dye in 2002, the course retained its reputation as one of the sternest tests of golf in the U.S., hosting the 67th Senior PGA Championship in 2006. With holes nicknamed, “Teeth of the Dog,” “Augusta,” and “Postage Stamp,” you know players are in for every trick in the book.
