Hole Description
“… the greatest test of golf I have ever played and the toughest course,” are the words Ben Hogan used to describe Oakland Hills, which he dubbed “this monster,” after winning the U.S. Open here in 1951. Since its founding in 1916 the course’s gently rolling terrain and tree-lined fairways have played host to 16 major championships, including six U.S. Opens, three PGA Championships, and a Ryder Cup. Our panoramic Stonehouse photographs bring to life the beauty and challenge of the club’s bunkered, bentgrass fairways – fairways on which notables such as Jack Nicklaus, Walter Hagen, Gary Player and Ben Hogan have competed.
