Hole Description
Searching for a Carolina Sandhills/Donald Ross golf experience? Pinehurst isn’t the only place to look… just down the road, Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club boasts a Donald Ross masterpiece that’s been fully restored, under the diligent eye of architect John Fought, to its original 1927 Ross personality. Long a haven for the game’s top players, the course has hosted three U.S. Womens’ Opens, and is reputed to be one of Ross’s favorite designs. Walkers, especially, are encouraged to enjoy a round among the hills, long leaf pines and beautifully manicured conditions of Pine Needles. “It is, I have to say, one of my favorite Open courses,” says Hall of Famer Nancy Lopez.
