Hole Description
Constant wind and meandering routing add up to a challenging course that completely fulfills the prediction offered by longtime Portmarnock member Kevin McGrath: “… you’ll seldom play the course the same way on two consecutive days.” Despite wide, level fairways and large greens, Portmarnock has stood the test of time as one of Ireland’s great links venues since it opened in 1894. Site of a Harry Vardon victory in its first professional championship in 1899, the club has since seen the likes of Ben Crenshaw, Seve Ballesteros and Jose Maria Olazabal compete in Irish Open tournaments that draw as many as 30,000 fans daily.
