Hole Description
Built a mile away from the Irish Sea, surrounded by a railroad track and the red brick sprawl of the town of Lytham St Annes, this links course is not known for its eye-catching scenery. Nevertheless, it stands revered among the British Isles as one of the most challenging courses on the Open rotation. Bedeviled by sea winds that confound club selection from moment to moment, the course places a premium on accuracy in the face of 196 deep, well-placed bunkers. Small wonder that Royal Lytham has hosted the British Open 10 times and showcased stunning victories by such notables as Seve Ballesteros, David Duval and Tom Lehman.
