Hole Description
Only minutes from downtown Philadelphia, the Ace Club’s beautiful streams, lakes, trees and rolling hills belie its proximity to The City of Brotherly Love. Designed by Gary Player, this is a thinking person’s course, and the designer has given players a lot to ponder – the changes in elevation, winding fairways, and slopes and ravines don’t necessarily reward a “grip-it and rip-it” strategy. Length, too, is a consideration. The Ace plays 7,500 yards from the back tees, and over 7,000 from the blues. Not until the whites does yardage dip under 7,000, and then it’s still a healthy 6,700. Fair enough, most agree; it just means more scenery to enjoy, as this Stonehouse image shows.
