Hole Description
The closing 18th at Turtle Point is clearly a make-or-break hole as the golfer completes his or her round. This wonderful par 4 must be treated with attention and care, for to take it casually surely means additional strokes on the scorecard.
It is to the advantage to the golfer to be able to shape the ball right-to-left off the tee on this medium length beauty. However, it is imperative the drive not be too far left nor too far right, as the golfer cannot afford to flirt with trees on either side, as architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr. intended. Lake Wilson can also be a disappointing factor off the tee for the overly-aggressive player.
The Lake truly comes into play on the second shot. The golfer is advised to hit their approach to the back of the green to take the Lake out of play. Bunkers left and back collect many balls that are hit too cautiously.
The 18th at Turtle Point is a great finishing hole. It offers all the trouble the golfer can possibly face. But to thoughtfully play this hole can yield rewards that can cap a wonderful round of golf.
