Royal Liverpool No. 18

Constructed in 1869 by Robert Chambers and George Morris, the Hoylake course at Royal Liverpool is the second oldest seaside golf course in England. Just two years later in 1871, the course was expanded to 18 holes and was granted the distinction of “Royal” by his Royal Highness The Duke of Connaught who patronized the club. In 2006, Royal Liverpool will play host to the 135th playing of the Open Championship bringing the number of Opens hosted to 11. The finishing hole is well bunkered requiring precision off the tee and on the approach to the heavily sloped 18th green.
